For more than 80 years, RCC Institute of Technology has been offering high-quality, career-focused education in Ontario. Founded in 1928, RCC began as a training facility for the fast-growing radio and communications sector and quickly became known for its technology and engineering programs.
In 2008, RCC acquired the International Academy of Design and Technology, a well-known private college founded in 1983 as the International Academy of Merchandising and Design. Over the years, the school had earned a reputation for providing students with hands-on training and industry-focused skills that help them land successful careers in the fields of interior design, fashion and graphic design.
This acquisition expanded RCC’s offerings, facilitating a convergence between design and technology education. Today the school, now called the Academy of Design, boasts programs in interior design, graphic design and interactive media, video game design and development, fashion design and fashion merchandising and marketing. In 2011, AODT was granted consent to offer a Bachelor of Interior Design through both online and in-class delivery.
Today RCC houses three different schools – The Academy of Design, the School of Engineering Technology & Computing and the Toronto Film School.
