As part of the application process to be admitted to the Academy of Design’s Interior Design programs, all prospective students must meet the following requirements.
ACADEMIC PATHWAY
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
High School Students entering from high school are required to have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) with at least a 65% average in six courses from the U/M level or equivalent including: Grade 12 English, Grade 12 Science, and Grade 12 Math.
College/University Graduates from another university or college will be assessed on a case-by-case basis:

Academy of Design Graduates Graduates of the Interior Decorating diploma program at the Academy of Design:
Mature Students Mature Students with a high school diploma may be considered for admission if they are 21+ years of age (for online delivery), or 19+ years of age (for in-class delivery). They must also have successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours at the post-secondary level.
Mature Students without a high school diploma can not directly apply to the Bachelor of Interior Design degree program, but may be considered for the diploma program and enter the Bachelors degree after completing three terms with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Statement of Interest:
In no more than 300 words, please write a short essay telling us about yourself and your interest in interior design. Also include a statement of commitment telling us why you wish to start now and why you will see your education through to the end. This will help us to determine your suitability to our program.
Portfolio/Samples of work:
This work does not need to be interior design related if you have no previous course work or industry-related experience, but must be original submissions (up to five pieces) that show us your potential in the field.
This program is offered under the written consent of the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities for the period from 11/03/2011 to 11/03/2016. Prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (e.g., acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies or other educational institutions.)
